Refracted Commentary

Students from Newcastle Fine Art were invited to devise new work in response to the Shipley’s John Christian Collection of Studio Ceramics. The collection is vast and varies from the historical to the contemporary, introducing the students to a range of ceramic techniques and processes. When creating, students took inspiration from form, movement, texture, colour and contextual narrative of the artwork, approaching the collection with exploration and invention.
